چکیده

|CDMA data networks such as the Qualcomm High Data Rate (HDR) are proposed in the midst of evolving to the 3rd generation wireless networks. The downlink transmission power is xed for all users in HDR systems unlikely IS-95 systems that are designed for the voice service only. The HDR systems endeavour to utilize the bandwidth eÆciently by selecting the optimal transmission rate for the current channel state, which yields similar e ects to the power control. There remains the possibility, however, to get additional bene ts from the power control. Inter-cell interference can be alleviated by reducing the transmission power to the users close to a basestation (BS) without sacri cing their transmission rates. In this paper, we propose a simple twolevel power control scheme that uses the full power and the reduced power alternately, and combine it with some packet scheduler to increase the system throughput. Simulation results show that the cell throughput has been improved by about 10-20%. Index Terms|CDMA data networks, HDR, downlink, throughput, power control, packet scheduler

Channel states dependent fair service: a new packet scheduling algorithm for CDMA

In this paper, we address the problem of packet scheduling for high speed CDMA, which can provide high speed data service for mobile users. We first investigate the appropriate multiple access schemes in high speed CDMA. We find through mathematical analysis that TDM is more efficient than CDM for downlink in high speed CDMA networks in some general situations. Based on this finding, we propose...

Combined Packet Retransmission Diversity and Power Adjustment Scheme for High Speed Wireless Networks

The introduction of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) in the 3GPP R5 standard will greatly improve the bearer capacity of the mobile network and make the dream of multimedia communications, anytime and anywhere, come true. One of the central features of HSDPA concept is advanced physical layer retransmission scheduling employing soft combining gain, incremental redundancy, and low retra...

Transmission power control for downlinks in CDMA/shared-TDD cellular packet systems

|This paper proposes a transmission power control scheme for downlinks in CDMA/shared{TDD cellular packet systems that experience inter-cell interference between uplinks and downlinks. The proposed scheme increases the downlink transmission power for re-transmission packets and thus improves the signalto-interference ratio for the packets. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improv...

Downlink Packet Transmission Control in Soft Handoff Status on CDMA Wireless IP Networks

A soft handoff scheme is very helpful to minimize the service disruption in CDMA wireless IP networks. In the conventional soft handoff scheme, the downlink throughput performance decreases due to fading fluctuations, this is because the base station transmits packets to mobile stations even in bad channel conditions. This paper presents a new transmission control scheme for the downlink IP pac...

Scheduling on uplink of CDMA packet data network with successive interference cancellation

Uplink scheduling in wireless systems is gaining importance due to arising uplink intensive data services (ftp, image uploads etc.), which could be hampered by the currently in-built asymmetry in favor of the downlink. In prior work [1], [2], we proposed optimal algorithms for uplink scheduling in a CDMA cell that does not employ any form of interference cancellation. In this work, we modify th...
